Purchasing a pure-bred Pug from a Breeder

Please note, that a reputable breeder is highly-selective in the placement of their pugs, whether for show or for pets.

Please understand that purchasing a pure-bed, show-quality Pug can be a huge financial investment.  The investment does not stop on the day of purchase.   If you wish to show your pug, the costs can exceed $6,000 to $12,000 in order to obtain Champion status.

Breeding should ONLY be done for the purposes of improving the breed standard, NOT to make money.  Keep in mind, that it can cost anywhere between $3,000 to $5,000 in medical expenses to breed and raise a litter of show-quality pug puppies.

Searching for a Stud Dog?

DO NOT expect to call a breeder and have them agree to breed their pug with yours unless you are able to do the following...

1.  Produce the verifiable pedigree of your dog from the American Kennel Club (AKC)

2.  Produce verifiable evidence that your Pug has earned Champion (CH) status in accredited dog shows

3.  Understand the financial costs/risks associated with breeding a litter of dogs

4.  Understand and agree to the Tampa Bay Pug Club Code of Ethics

5.  A reputable breeder will require you to spay or neuter your dog if it is to be purchased as a pet and not for show purposes.
5.  Even IF you meet the criteria in steps one through five, only the breeder can decide whether your pug will breed with theirs.
